The Bacon Challenge

My daughter helped me make this dessert tonight. A few days ago I asked her to help me think of a different way to use bacon. It took her all of 2 seconds to decide on ice cream. So ice cream it was!

This is so simple with only five ingredients. Thanks to Martha Stewart for the base recipe. I know there are hundreds out there, but her's was the one I used.

No Churn Bacon Ice Cream

2 cups heavy whipping cream
14 oz sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup pure maple syrup (If you really, really want maple flavor, add some maple extract.)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
5 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled (Feel free to add more if you want. 5 slices was all I had.)

1. Whip the cream until it is fluffy with stiff peaks.
2. In a separate bowl combine the milk, syrup, vanilla, and bacon.
3. Gently fold the milk mixture into the cream.
4. Pour the cream into an 8x4x2 loaf pan and freeze. Soft serve ice cream takes about 2 hours. Freeze longer for a harder set.
5. Serve with maple syrup for the ultimate experience!
6. Wrap this tightly to store any leftovers in your freezer.

  6. Do you think you could put the mixture after it is prepared into an ice cream maker? I have a small ice cream maker that I use all the time and would turn this into soft serve in about 20 minutes!
